Available in a variety of scales, especially 1/72nd, 1/48th and 1/32nd, aircraft subjects are probably the most popular genre of scale modelling (although the armour specialists may beg to differ).

From the earliest wood and wire biplanes of the First World War to the latest Stealth technology airframes, including helicopters, model aircraft are among the most exciting and challenging models to create, either static on the ground or displayed in flight.
